Kira talked about the challenges faced in freelance writing and on gaining a job post-graduation, on professional agency based copywriting, writing for the video-games industry and her experiences as a freelance writer ranging from game journalism to writing for an overseas game studio in America. Kira also spoke of her passion for creating content for web pages and blogs and tackling the challenge of creating eye-catching written content for clients with topics that are not easy to generate engagement for.
Kira spoke to a combined group of attendees from the first, second and third-year students currently studying creative writing, to the fantastic creative writing department staff including Moy McCrory, the current head of the creative writing department at Derby University.
After the talk, Kira conducted a 35 minute Q&A session with the students and presented them with an optional series of copywriting tasks based on real examples to do after the session and contact details to send their answers to so they could receive constructive criticism from Kira and have a go at being a professional copywriter.
We want to thank the University Of Derby for inviting Kira back to be a guest speaker and look forward to working with them again in the future.
