This time we shall be chatting about creativity and how that can help to spruce up your marketing stories. So what is creativity?
Really? You seriously need to ask that? Bloody hell. I have got my work cut out for me in this one. Creativity is the process of laying the foundations for the building of an inspirational or emotive piece of work that evokes a response in the audience. Got it? No? Okay. In terms of marketing, this means creating a campaign which is new, different or has a spin on something that already exists.
It can take a wide variety of approaches; humour, shock, colour or even violence. It all depends on your target audience and what you want to do with it. Giving life to inanimate objects, creating a story that seems surreal, all of these are valid approaches.
How do you make use of creativity in marketing? Simple. Look at the competition and see what they are doing then DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. If your a big drinks manufacturer and your competitor is doing advertisements with singing fairies, do something else. Take a direct approach, do a pest-control advert for fairies where the exterminator drinks your brand. Alternatively, make your bottles walk and talk and discuss their life stories.
Anything can be used for marketing purposes. Using creative writing and design, you can build a campaign that not only creates engagement by generating conversation (remember earlier, conversation creates commerce!) it has potential to go viral. Viral marketing is, of course, the dream for any marketing agency. It creates its own engagement and momentum!
Just create creative content. Take a new approach to your marketing and do something different to your competitors. Being creative can craft new opportunities.
Next time we will be talking about Keywords and phrases, as well as SEO integration and what that means for your marketing.
